Research Interests:

Professor Wixted completed his doctorate at Oxford University in 1977 and has been a professor, associate professor and assistant professor of Asian languages (Chinese and Japanese languages and literatures) at Arizona State University since 1978. He is the author of five books. Two are on traditional Chinese poetry: The Song-Poetry of Wei Chuang (836-910 A.D.) (Tempe, 1979) and Poems on Poetry: Literary Criticism by Yuan Hao-wen (1190-1257) (Wiesbaden, 1982). Another is a translation of the study by Yoshikawa Kojiro, Five Hundred Years of Chinese Poetry, 1150-1650: The Chin, Yuan, and Ming Dynasties (Princeton, 1989). His fourth volume appeared as Japanese Scholars of China: A Bibliographical Handbook (Lewiston, N.Y., 1992). And his fifth book, A Handbook to Classical Japanese, is forthcoming in the Cornell East Asia Series.

Currently retired in Michigan, Professor Wixted taught at the University of Michigan in 1977-78.
