4.7 The Modern
Period
The
establishment of the Republic of China put an end to the feudal dynasties. However, China experienced incessant civil wars.
May
Fourth Movement in 1919 and the establishment of Chinese Communist Party in 1921
were two significant events in
modern Chinese History. The Chinese Communist Party brought temporary
unification time period in China.
However,
civil war broke out once again,
and the invasion of northwest China in 1931 by the Japanese led to a full-scale
bloody war in 1937; it was soon followed by the outbreak of World War II.
After
the end of the World War II, civil war broke out again between the Communists
and the Socialists, but it led to the
founding of People’s of Republic of China.
From 1911 to 1949 was a time of bloody wars, but
modern textile, flour, and other light industries grew rapidly in Eastern
Monsoon China no matter how harsh and unstable the times were.
