China Data Explorer is family of global spatial data visualization and analysis products in ISciences’ TerraViva!^®  family of GIS software about Earth and its people.  China Data Explorer blends the data-rich collections of China provincial and county variables and maps from the China Data Center at the University of Michigan with TerraViva!^®’s  powerful data-viewing engine and tools to aid analysts, researchers, and instructors.

 

China Data Explorer Products

This family of products is based on either the TerraViva! Global Data Viewer (GDV) or the Global Data Analyst (GDA). The China Data Explorer products are:

What data is included with China Data Explorer?

§    China National Statistics dataset. A collection of 256 variables on yearly macro-economic statistics from 1949-2002 for 31 provinces

§    China Provincial Census 2000 dataset. A collection of over 5,000 variables about the population of 33 sub-national Chinese provinces.

§    China County Census 2000 dataset. A collection of 200 variables on more than 2,800 county level Chinese administrative units.

§    China Historical Census Explorer dataset. A collection of population Census data of China at county level and maps in 1953, 1964, 1982, 1990 and 2000.

The Chinese provincial and county maps are included with all products.

What makes China Data Explorer unique?

§    Gazetteer. Find cities, states, provinces, countries, water bodies, and weather stations, quickly. Able to find features by clicking on a map.

§    Flexibility. Add additional TerraViva!^® GeoPacks that increase the scope of maps and data.
