2000 China County Population Census Data with GIS Maps
(Version IV)

The University of Michigan China Data Center is pleased to release a updated version of "2000 China County Population Census Data with GIS Maps (Version IV), which includes 2000 county GIS maps with about 1,900 variables from 2000 population Census data for counties integrated with the county map.

The GIS map layers include: (1) 2000 County map with population and socioeconomic variables(1:100 million); (2) 2000 Provincial boundary map; (3) Highway; (4) National Road; (5) Provincial Trunk Road; (6) Railways; (7) Rivers; and (8) Coast lines.

The updated version (IV) has made the following significant improvement and upgrade from its previous version (III): (1) The new county maps have much higher quality compared to its previous version (II and III) and are saved in degree format, which will make users much easier to project the maps to other coordinating systems; (2) The new version (IV) now includes urban and rural population by urban districts and counties; and (3) The new version (IV) add some more variables from 2000 population Census data.
