  • Title A Spatial Study of Religion and Urbanization in China
Author Shuming Bao and Xiaodong Fu
Note This paper presented the results from a spatial study of religion and urbanization in China by exploring the changes in the spatial structure of different religions across urban, rural and transitional areas. We found that the percentage of religious sites have been keeping increasing in urban and transitional areas and decreasing in rural areas even though that there is still a large percentage of religious sites in rural areas. This presentation will also show some new development of the online spatial religion explorer for the spatial analysis of religion and urbanization based on workflows, which may greatly facilitate many similar spatial studies on religion, urbanization and other aspects of the Chinese society and serve as a prototype for other religious studies.
